Statement
虚虚実実の遊戯 Part 3
フォルムを単純化し、色彩の数を限定して描くー再現描写をしないことを選択した描き方は、具象が主流の今の時代ではどうやら隅に追いやられた感がある。「抽象不遇の時代」なんていう言葉さえある。考えてみれば現代人はスマホなどでどっぷり映像の世界につかりながら生きている。だから実体から離れたイメージによってダイレクトに感覚が刺激されながら自分が支えられているので、そこに抽象化するということがあまり機能しなくなっているのかもしれない。
そんな中で私はあえてうまく描こうとはせず、平塗りで色数を限定して表現しようとしている。学生時代から風景などの具象を描いていても、私はなぜか抽象を描いているという意識を常に持っていた。
物事を「抽象化して見る」ということ、アウトラインを強調し、実体を曖昧なものにさせ、虚と実を反転するという「倒置」、そして単純なフォルムを複数形にする「繰り返し」、これらの仕掛けは私のなかの潜在的な欲求につながっている。その仕掛けを通して絵画を制作することで自分の感覚を乱反射させた世界をおもしろく表現できたら、と思っている。

To simplify the form and limit the number of colours ? to choose to paint in a way that is not representational. I feel that, in an era when representational painting is the mainstream, this method of painting is to walk off into a corner.
People even say that this is “a disastrous period for abstract art”. Today we live absorbed in a world of images constantly using our smartphones and the like. Our senses are supported and directly stimulated by these images which are divorced from reality. Abstraction, arguably, doesn’t have a function here.
Even so, I still try not to paint in detail but produce flat paintings using just a few colours. Since I was a student, I have always been aware that I subconsciously paint abstract art even when my subject is landscape.
To observe the subject in an abstract way, to emphasize the outline, to obfuscate the substance, to reverse the truth and the falsity, to repeat the simple forms, these methods connect to my subconscious desire to express. I want to produce paintings using these methods and show the interesting world that diffusely reflects all that I can sense.
